Stonesmith Sell Historic Dartmoor Coaching Inn
This historic Dartmoor coaching Inn, with origins reputedly dating back to the late 1800s, has been sold by Devon based licensed property specialists, Stonesmith.
The Forest Inn is located in the attractive rural moorland hamlet of Hexworthy, a popular tourist location set in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. Located in a secluded and elevated position, overlooking the Dart Valley, and with extensive moorland views, The Forest Inn lies close to popular beauty spots – the Hexworthy Bridge and Vennford Reservoir, both of which attract large numbers of visitors. The Forest Inn is mentioned in Crossings Guide to Dartmoor, a definitive text used by walkers and Dartmoor enthusiasts, first published in 1910. The business has been recognised and renowned amongst Dartmoor enthusiasts, for providing public house and accommodation facilities in an undeveloped and unspoilt part of the Moor and is a popular base from which to visit many of the famous historic features and attractions close by, surrounded by picturesque moorland scenery and wildlife.
The business ceased trading in February 2014 but the new owners have now reopened the Inn following a program of renovation and refurbishment to restore it to its former glory.
Mike Phillips, director of selling agents Stonesmith, commented: “We are delighted the Forest Inn has been given a new lease of life and we wish the new owners every success with their exciting plans for securing the long-term future of this renown Dartmoor Inn”.
The property was sold for an undisclosed amount, in excess of the guide price of £250,000. For further details please contact Stonesmith.
