New Edition To Exeter’s Vibrant Restaurant Scene
Formerly trading as a seafood restaurant and cocktail bar, The Blue Fish Brasserie in Queen Street, Exeter, has been bought by experienced local operators as a grill and chophouse. The new owners Melissa and Garth Pearse bought the leasehold property through licensed property specialists Stonesmith of Exeter.
Their new business venture, Exeter Sausage and Grill and 44 Below is the latest edition to Exeter’s vibrant restaurant scene. Specialising in locally sourced meat and sausages, local butcher Chris Horne makes the restaurants brand named sausages on the property. All ingredients are sourced locally by chef Brian Phillips and meat and dairy products are all free range and offer more than sausages. There is a grill menu full of modern British dishes including weekly seasonal specials and various vegetarian choices.
As well as the refurbished restaurant area, downstairs is the newly created 44 Below, a hidden gem where you can relax with friends in a plush and swanky setting offering cocktails along with an extensive range of wines and champagnes by the glass.
Garth and Melissa were attracted to the properties location, being on a very busy street in the centre of Exeter and close to both Exeter University and College. Their aim is to provide quality food and drinks aimed at business people, couples and students.
The property comprises the three lower floors of a five storey end of terrace character Grade 2 Listed property which was converted to a restaurant in the late 1980s.The premises briefly comprise a ground floor restaurant which can seat 70 customers and a basement cocktail and lounge bar which can comfortably accommodate 100 people. There is also a separate entrance to 44 Below from street level. There is also a fully equipped Commercial Catering Kitchen and various ancillary and welfare facilities.
Mike Phillips of selling agents Stonesmith comments “this sale highlights the continued demand for restaurant premises in Exeter and we wish Melissa, Garth and Brian the best of luck with their new venture”
The property was sold for an undisclosed figure.
