After a short time trading as Number 67, a bar/bistro, The Chattery is back!
Locals, Andy and Lynda Cole, saw the potential in returning the Number 67 cafe/bistro/bar, in Sidmouth, East Devon, back to its original roots as a popular daytime coffee shop. With their local knowledge they knew the previous trade was good and wanted to re-establish the business as it was before, even reverting back to the original name “The Chattery”. In addition they have also re-employed the very capable and experienced staff, reports licensed property specialists, Stonesmith of Exeter.
The Chattery is now re open and offering a range of hot and cold beverages, cakes, snacks, light lunches, afternoon tea and a takeaway menu. In the summer months Andy and Lynda intend to open in the evenings and to offer an early dinner menu and alcoholic drinks are also available.
Andy and Lynda’s aim is to provide a relaxed and informal atmosphere in a fresh and comfortable environment and as such have completely refurbished the trade areas and resigned the outside. There are now approx 42 covers inside and 8 on the trade patio.
The Chattery is in a prime trading position on Sidmouth’s High Street with Sidmouth being an extremely affluent town that draws trade from all over the area and is boosted in the summer months from tourists and the famous Folk Festival. This high quality business briefly comprises a main restaurant, fully equipped commercial catering kitchen, customer welfare facilities and a 3 bedroomed self contained flat.
Mike Phillips of selling agents Stonesmith commented “The sale of Number 67 generated a significant amount of interest and we received multiple offers from interested parties resulting in a sale being agreed on the business within two weeks of instructions being received and the sale was concluded within three weeks. Given Andy and Lynda’s local knowledge and business experience, I am sure that they will make a great success of this new venture.”
The leasehold business was sold of an asking price of £79,500.
