Riva Cafe and Restaurant, Honiton SOLD

Well established daytime cafe, coffee shop and licensed restaurant

Set in a prominent trading position in the market town of Honiton in East Devon, Riva Cafe & Restaurant has recently been sold by licensed property specialists Stonesmith of Exeter.

The new owners are Ray Hanratty and Sarah Watson who have been looking for the right property for quite a while. Sarah has previous experience in catering and between them they saw the potential in the business. Riva gave them an opportunity to offer a style of catering to suit their requirements offering fresh home produced food.

Riva is an established business which Ray and Sarah will trade on a daytime only basis. Where possible, the cafe will be offering locally sourced West Country produce from wholesome breakfasts through to lunch and afternoon cream teas. They have introduced a new menu which has been enthusiastically welcomed by the customers and includes a range of fresh cakes, including award winning fruit cakes by Sally Anne, home made soup prepared fresh each day, vegetarian dishes, a Riva special platter/board, salads and a range of imaginative hot dishes. Looking ahead they are planning to introduce a daily specials board which will provide seasonal dishes.

Riva benefits from being in the heart of Honiton’s town centre and on the main High Street. It has an established custom as well as attracts passing trade. Honiton is well know as an antique and book centre and historically for its lace making.

The property briefly provides a cafe/restaurant area with approx 30 covers, customer servery, a soft seating lounge area with 8 covers, a commercial kitchen with ancillary areas and to the rear an enclosed patio/garden with seating for 12.

Mike Phillips, Director of business sales specialists Stonesmith of Exeter commented “The sale of Riva shows the continued demand and enthusiasm for people to own and run their own catering business and this is just one of a number of catering businesses that we have sold so far in 2012. Other sales have included, The Conservatory Restaurant in Exeter, Fuel Café in Exeter, The Ridge Café at Haldon Forest and 18 & 20 The Strand in Dawlish”

A leasehold business Stonesmith sold Riva off an asking price of £29,950.
