The Rose and Crown at Sandford, Nr Crediton has been bought by Arthur & Jeanette Newton and Gillian Conibear, local business people who have connections with the village. Licensed property specialists Stonesmith, sold the freehold interest in The Rose & Crown on behalf of Basil and Mary Nunn and their daughter Sarah.

A charming and deceptively spacious Mid Devon village freehouse, originally dating back to16th Century, it was rebuilt in 1920 after a devastating fire. Over the years it has been sympathetically upgraded but retains much of the original character.

The Rose and Crown is a traditional Country village inn and destination public house. It has a strong all year round trade and is supported not only by the locals but also draws custom from the nearby towns and villages.
The pub also sponsors a local football team and the skittle alley/function room is popular for private parties and meetings etc.

Sandford is a sought after village in a semi-rural position, 2 miles from the market town of Crediton and 9 miles from the City of Exeter. It retains the village community feeling and offers a good range of local amenities.

The property briefly comprises a character main bar with a games area and covers for 30, a separate restaurant with 24 covers, a well equipped catering kitchen and spacious 4 bedroomed private accommodation. Outside there are lawned gardens, off road parking, a purpose built skittle alley/function suite and various outbuildings.

The freehold business was sold by Stonesmith off an asking price of £415,000. Mike Phillips of agents Stonesmith commented “despite the tough market conditions, good quality freehold opportunities in village locations continue to generate enquiries”
