The Chetnole Inn, Chetnole, Dorset SOLD

Award winning Dorset pub has been sold

The Chetnole Inn at Chetnole, Nr Sherborne in Dorset, which has previously been awarded the Best Dining Pub in Dorset, has been sold by licensed trade specialists Stonesmith of Exeter.

The new owners are experienced chef and hotelier Simon Hudson and his wife Maria, who, along with their two children, have moved to Dorset from Hampshire. Simon and Maria were looking for a business to run together that fitted in with family life. It also needed to be set in a beautiful part of the country and provided good schools and facilities nearby. The Chetnole ticked all the boxes and they have been delighted with the reception they have had from customers and locals alike.

Whilst Simon and Maria had not planned to make any major alterations they have though reverted back to being more of a pub with a bar, but still offering the same quality food and dining experience. The response from locals has been positive and they have retained the previous chef and the menu has been enhanced with a good selection of daily specials, including fresh fish dishes.

With its original features, charm and character, the decor has been given a recent makeover and the pub offers a main bar, a restaurant and a snug bar which provides seating for around 70 customers. There are also 3 en-suite letting rooms which are beautifully decorated and furnished and an owner’s cottage with family sized living accommodation.

Outside the beautiful beer gardens have also had a makeover with new furniture, some extra planting and the addition of a chicken run…….although Simon says the chickens are still settling in and slightly reluctant to start laying!

Mike Phillips Director of Stonesmith who handled the sale comments “This particular business represented a fantastic opportunity to acquire what is a unique and charming public house set within a fantastic village location. This is a great example of quality public house with letting rooms and family accommodation and thus demonstrating a real demand for the right opportunity in sought after areas.”
A freehold business, Stonesmith sold The Chetnole Inn off a guide price of £599,950. Details of properties for sale and sold can be found at www.stonesmith.co.uk or by calling the office on 01392 201262.
