Detached Seafront Bed and Breakfast.
Having traded on a more relaxed basis and with retirement looming, Gordon and Susan Sherrington of The Shoalstone Hotel in Brixham have sold the business to Gabriel and Suzie Sutton through licensed and leisure property specialist Stonesmith of Exeter.
Originally from Oxfordshire, Gabriel and Suzie were attracted to the business by its potential and stunning location. This is a completely new venture for them, although they do have some previous experience in the hospitality trade.
The business will be called The Shoalstone and trade on a B&B only basis.
Gabriel and Suzie have already redecorated the dining room and upgraded many of the letting rooms, though in keeping with the style and age of the property.
Looking ahead they are hoping to improve the outside seating areas and make it more accessible for guests and visitors. They are also creating a website www.theshoalstone.co.uk.
The Shoalstone is close to Brixham’s town centre, renowned as one of the countries principle fishing ports. Brixham is increasing in popularity as a prestigious resort town and has in the past few years gained an impressive marina.
The business is set in an elevated position with stunning views over Torbay and beyond to Lyme Bay and Portland. The property was extended by the previous owners and now offers 9 en-suite letting rooms (most with sea views), a residents lounge, 16 cover dining room, catering kitchen and 2 bedroomed private accommodation.
Outside there are extensive sun terraces, a summer house and a driveway that leads to 12 parking spaces.
Mike Phillips, Director of Stonesmith, who handled the sale, commented “We are delighted to have secured a sale for Gordon and Susan allowing them to make their retirement plans. Gabriel and Suzie are looking forward to their new venture and we wish them well with their future plans for The Shoalstone.”
A freehold business Stonesmith sold The Shoalstone Hotel off a guide price of £695,000.
