LICENSED CAFE/RESTAURANT IN PROMINENT ROADSIDE LOCATION
With the potential to increase trade and build a solid local following, Willand Restaurant was exactly what new owners Mack and Sara McGinley were looking for in a new venture. Having looked for nearly 3 years they have now bought the business through licensed and leisure property specialists Stonesmith of Exeter, who sold it on behalf of a local family who had run Willand Restaurant for over 40 years.
Mack and Sara, who are experienced operators and both have catering backgrounds, sought an inland restaurant in preference to a tourist location. They wanted a business that they could build ties within the local community and develop a solid all year round trade.
Despite only being at the premises for a short time they have already refurbished and refitted the kitchen to a high standard (meeting stringent Heath regulations) and redecorated and refurbished the dining room creating a fresh modern and contemporary area that is light, airy and inviting.
With a new menu introduced, providing English cuisine, they are also listening to customer demand and have created a younger generation choice with tried and tested home made burgers being a popular option. The food is all home cooked and fresh and starts daily with breakfasts, going on to lunch and afternoon cream teas. Mack and Sara have also introduced a carvery Tue, Wed, Thur and Sunday lunchtimes which has proved extremely popular.
Looking ahead to the future Mack and Sara are looking to build and expand the local trade and offer the restaurant for private bookings and events in the evening.
The property is on the edge of Willand and 4 miles north of Cullompton at Junction 28 on the M5 Motorway. It shares the site with a filling station, retail shop and car sales forecourt. A lock-up unit it provides a main cafe/restaurant area with 80 covers, catering kitchen with ancillary areas, dry goods storage and customer welfare facilities. Outside there are 25 parking spaces allocated to the restaurant.
The business was bought with a new lease off a guide price of £32,500.
